Fire Training at Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta !

Fire fighting! One of the most crucial elements in hotel safety.

Our colleagues learned all about this critical subject with ‘hands on’ training. The fire fighting training session was conducted at Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta in cooperation with the hotel project safety team.

The quick reaction and anticipation of our colleagues throughout the whole program really showed their commitment in providing a safe working environment. Well done to everyone who attended.

During all the exercises and games ALL the candidates gave a fantastic performance and really tried to give their very best.

Yes it was a “Grand Recruitment Week” for new colleagues at Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta - but with a twist of excitement!

Our candidates were invited to visit the hotel for the second phase of the recruitment process and they were surprised to learn that they did not have to have an ‘interview’ but that they had to join fun and exciting activities instead, surprise surprise.

The key words were energy, intelligence and disposition as we wanted to meet the ‘real’ candidates and learn about their personality and not just their skills. Trying drawing when you are blindfolded or crossing a river full of crocodiles (not real!!) and then you will start to enjoy yourself and work as a team. (continued on page 2)

Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta Presentation for final semester students of Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Sahid and SMIP Jayawisata, May 27, 2009

Enthusiasm, excitement and curiosity are the words that describe our visit as our team presented all the opportunities that were available at Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta.

During the presentation, students were invited to apply for work positions that they were most passionate about and we also gave some tips (advice) on how to overcome the anxiety of having an interview especially with the new graduates.

All the participants were students who are in their last semester and about to graduate from their respective schools. So from all of us at Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta THANK YOU to Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Sahid and SMIP Jayawisata for letting us visit.

This was our First Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta, monthly birthday party and WOW what an afternoon it was…….well look at the pictures!!

The FOCUS was on fun and relaxing as a team of Colleagues and it also let us celebrate a few birthdays – we are all getting older every year – but maybe we are getting wiser.

The GM gave a brief presentation showing pictures of the new FANTASTIC bedrooms and restaurants and reminded all the colleagues that we are going to open in October – THE ALL NEW MANDARIN ORIENTAL JAKARTA – and we can’t wait – exciting times….

Other highlights from Friday were our monthly recognition awards and also the best prize for the fancy dress – say hello to Yunita!
