Mandarin Oriental Jakarta, Management Team Building July 24 – 25, 2009
“To delight and satisfy our colleagues at all time!” That’s was the theme when we visited Lido Lakes for our Management Team Building and what a fantastic two days we had! Our colleagues participated in a whole range of fun team builiding activities which really focused on the “working together as colleagues” and understanding the importance in welcoming our new colleagues to the Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta family.
That was a great moment for all of us in Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta to get together in a different yet exciting atmosphere and as break from our usual busy routine in Jakarta.
The agenda included team and personal challenges, a talent show, paintballing and raft race. And yes we all got very wet!!!!
Each participant showed a remarkable commitment toward the success of the event and by participating in all the activities – even if we were sometimes a little frightened – Flying Fox…….!! Anyway let the pictures speak for themselves and I think you will agree that the smiling faces says it all.

On The Job Training Technique (OJT) July 13 to July 18, 2009
What an exciting session it was! Our colleagues went through a 3 day training course where they learnt how to conduct a proper ‘one on one’ training session and how to professionaly deliver it according to Mandarin Oriental Standard.
The program is designed to support departmental Trainers who have a responsibility for delivering practical on-job training sessions, and who have the commitment and personal attributes to be an on-job skills trainer. This skill in particular is very important and it will have tremendous benefits in preparing our colleagues for opening the hotel in October
Each participant showed a remarkable commitment toward the success of the program with their enthusiastic effort and attention in all parts of the session

Norman is the Learning & Development Manager from Mandarin Oriental, Singapore (MOSIN) who is supporting our team here at Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta (MOJKT) in conducting the first OJT and GTT session from July 13 to July 21, 2009.
Being an accredited MOHG trainer and as an expert of the subjects, Norman’s support is highly appreciated by us.

Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta Food & Beverage Department Recruitment Activities for final semester students at Akademi Pariwisata Nasional, Jakarta - AK
Enthusiasm and excitement are the words that describe our visit to these school where our team continued the recruitment drive for the re opening of Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta this October!!
During our visit, the team presented the students with highlighted features of the All New Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta and shared with them what will make us different and unique from other luxury hotels in the world!! After this pre-screening activities started…..
All the attendees were surprised to find that in a truly “Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta way” we like to do things in a distinctive but exciting way during our recruitment process.
The results from the activities were very good as each student showed enthusiasm and energy when participating in the activities.
The successful candidates from these visits were then invited to come to Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta for a second phase of the recruitment process.
Again thank you very much to the schools for letting us visit and also thank you to the students for joining the activities.

Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta - Food & Beverage Department, Grand Recruitment
The exciting times continue for all of us in the recruitment team and hopefully for all the candidates as well!
Last Tuesday on June 30, we invited candidates to visit the hotel for the second phase of the recruitment process, and once again the candidates were all surprised as there were no ‘formal’ interviews - instead they were welcomed by our friendly colleagues and asked to participate in fun yet very meaningful activities where they all had to learn to work together as a team.
Energy, disposition and intelligence can be observed through the candidate’s enthusiasm, response and behavior during all the exciting activities.
Congratulations to all the candidates that succeeded in reaching the second phase and we look forward to welcoming them back to the wonderful family of Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta.
