As we approach the opening of the all new Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta we are starting to welcome more and more new colleagues…….

On Monday (3rd August) 114 colleagues for various departments including housekeeping, colleague dining and security started their induction process.

The hotel might not be open but we need to get our colleagues on board now to make sure that we are 100% ready to welcome our first guest in October!!

Wherever a colleague is working in the hotel everyone must receive the same support and understanding of their role in Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta. For us ALL our vision and mission is the same remember we want to be the best hotel in Indonesia.

The pictures below show a lot of excitement at the ‘on boarding’ process, and next week we will have another 200 colleagues joining the family WOW!!

“To delight and satisfy our colleagues at all time!” That’s was the theme when we visited Lido Lakes for our Management Team Building and what a fantastic two days we had! Our colleagues participated in a whole range of fun team builiding activities which really focused on the “working together as colleagues” and understanding the importance in welcoming our new colleagues to the Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta family.

That was a great moment for all of us in Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta to get together in a different yet exciting atmosphere and as break from our usual busy routine in Jakarta.

The agenda included team and personal challenges, a talent show, paintballing and raft race. And yes we all got very wet!!!!

Each participant showed a remarkable commitment toward the success of the event and by participating in all the activities – even if we were sometimes a little frightened – Flying Fox…….!! Anyway let the pictures speak for themselves and I think you will agree that the smiling faces says it all.

On The Job Training Technique (OJT) July 13 to July 18, 2009

What an exciting session it was! Our colleagues went through a 3 day training course where they learnt how to conduct a proper ‘one on one’ training session and how to professionaly deliver it according to Mandarin Oriental Standard.

The program is designed to support departmental Trainers who have a responsibility for delivering practical on-job training sessions, and who have the commitment and personal attributes to be an on-job skills trainer. This skill in particular is very important and it will have tremendous benefits in preparing our colleagues for opening the hotel in October

The exciting times continue for all of us in the recruitment team and hopefully for all the candidates as well!

Last Tuesday on June 30, we invited candidates to visit the hotel for the second phase of the recruitment process, and once again the candidates were all surprised as there were no ‘formal’ interviews - instead they were welcomed by our friendly colleagues and asked to participate in fun yet very meaningful activities where they all had to learn to work together as a team.

Yes it was a “Grand Recruitment Week” for new colleagues at Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta - but with a twist of excitement!

Our candidates were invited to visit the hotel for the second phase of the recruitment process and they were surprised to learn that they did not have to have an ‘interview’ but that they had to join fun and exciting activities instead, surprise surprise.

The key words were energy, intelligence and disposition as we wanted to meet the ‘real’ candidates and learn about their personality and not just their skills.
